How to install Netgear Extender Setup

 Netgear Extender range expands your home WiFi network coverage bigger and expandable this may also improve your networking coverage. There are simple steps that can help you install this setup to the extender. and for all other extenders, these are the main steps for installation.

Setup WiFi Extender:  

Plug in your extender and the power LED light. If you can't see any light on it for this you have to press the on/off button.

You have to connect your computer to the extender's wifi network. which is named as (SSID) Which is  NETGEAR_EXT. This extender network has no password or if it has a password it would be a password. Also, your device warns you that the internet is not available which is expected. Just have to keep the WiFi connection.  


  • Now just open a web browser and enter mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250. 

  • Click or tap NEW Netgear Extender Setup.

  • It asks for accepted terms and conditions you have to tap on YES or I AGREE.  

Choose your extender's admin credentials, these help you to access your settings on the web browser on a system on which you have to use an extension. You just have to leave the default user name as admin and just put a password that is completely different from the wifi network password.  Select and answers the security questions that are reflected on your system screen. these questions are used to recover your extender's admin credentials, in case you forget them. 

  • Click on the NEXT tab. 

  • If your extender asks for use of NETGEAR Genie to help, click on YES or CONTINUE.  

WiFi Extender Setup 

  • You have to select the Network's 2.4GHz and 5GHz to your system. If you are unable to see the network, click on SEE MORE, Click or tap NEXT. 

  • Now enter the password that you filled earlier and now click on NEXT. 

  • Put the SSIDs and passwords on your extender. 

  • The extender uses the name of your existing network with _2GEXT added to the 2.4GHz band and _5GEXT for the 5GHz Band and you have to set the password of both bands to be the same as your existing network. 

Netgear Extender Installation 

  • For mesh extender, you have an option to use the same wifi name and password as your last network. 

  • Select the button to enable one wifi name check the box to enable this feature so that you can see that this extender can support it. 

  • This also allows your extender to use your WiFi last name and that password which you have to fill last wifi network.  

Configure WiFi Extender 

  • To Netgear extender setup, configure the mywifiext.net admin panel. 

  • Access the http://mywifixet.net/setup page. 

  • Now just tap on Next and this may take some minutes to apply your settings. 

  • You have to note down the names and passwords visible on the extender's band. Just go to the system on which you have to set the extender. 

  • Go to the settings of that system and connect to the extender's new network. 

  • Go back to your Web Browser, check the checkbox at the bottom of the page, and click on CONTINUE.
